The rolling cylinder with coloured ballsis the ideal material for babies who are just beginning to crawl or slither. Place it on its side and roll it just a little out of reach as incentive and motivation for your baby to move forwards. The colourful balls and gentle clacking sounds made attract the baby.
The bars on the Rolling Ball Cylinder are suitable for grasping. However even though this material is not all that large, take care not to introduce it too early as it may be a little heavy for younger babies.
I also find it nice to introduce something the baby has not seen before at this important moment when they are just venturing out into the world of crawling, so to entice them to move all the more eagerly!
The Spinning Drum is perfect for encouraging and prolonging "tummy time". Babies are captivated by the colours and the gentle sounds created when they spin the drum.
The drum helps the baby develop hand-eye coordination as well as arm and wrist strength. It helps your child practise their hand-eye coordination and encourages movement.
The Spinning Drum has 5 colorful panels of red, yellow, blue, green and orange and one mirror panel. Babies love to see themselves in the mirror.
They continue to enjoy this toy once they are sitting. You can use it later with for child for colour matching exercises.

Passing an object from one hand to the other is a skill which your baby has to figure out and master. Don't worry if it takes some time. Initially when you give the Interlocking Discs to your baby they may use it like a rattle in one hand. It is exciting to wait and watch for the moment when your baby can transfer objects between hands!
This material is great for strengthening the wrists. Watch how your baby's wrists turn as he /she passes it from one hand to the other.
Use the discs later when they are just about to crawl or slither. The interlocking discs roll in a wonderful way that is not too fast for baby and can offer incentive and motivation to move forwards and reach for it.
For babies from 2 months +

Montessori Egg and Cup
The Montessori Egg and Cup is a classic Montessori material that still proves popular with babies today. It allows the baby to practise hand-eye coordination by removing and releasing the egg to and from the cup. A very simple motion for us adults, but one that engages the baby.
Introduce this to your baby when they are sitting up and particularly of you observe that they like putting things in and out of things. Don't worry if your child is only initially interested in the egg, or if they bang one off the other.
This material gives the baby the opportunity to practice using both hands together, an important skill for later on, used for other tasks such as getting dressed.
It also exercises the whole-hand grasp.
7 - 11 Months
Dimensions: 11cm high while the egg sits placed in the cup.
